At G&M Auto Electrics we appreciate the convenience that comes from owning their own golf carts. This is why we have taken the time to become fully informed and stay up to date with solving golf cart electrical issues. Taking proper care of the golf cart can extend the life of the vehicle and keep it operating as designed. Some simple suggestions can help golf cart owners keep up with easy maintenance requirements and serve as a reminder to protect the investment they have in their carts. Maintaining a golf cart involves both mechanical maintenance as well as keeping up with the exterior appearance of the cart.

Maintain Golf Cart Batteries

Electric golf carts rely on properly functioning batteries to perform optimally. Keep the batteries charged using a golf cart battery charger with the capacity to fully renew battery voltage. Check battery terminal connections to keep the posts and connectors free of corrosion, and clean the terminals with a battery brush periodically. Check battery acid levels in older batteries, and ensure that the plates in the battery are completely covered with fluid. Low acid levels can cause damage to a battery and make it unserviceable. If battery issues arise, use a battery hydrometer to detect bad battery cells and identify a battery needing replacement. Swapping out a bad battery keeps the remaining batteries healthier as they do not have to compensate for the defective unit.
